Other activities in the Lake District for non-riders

If you're a non-horsey partner, or have just had enough of riding for the day, there are lots of other activities in the Lake District:

Fishing

There is great fishing on our privately owned stretch of the river Mint, just a two minute walk from Mill Raise.

Swimming

At Hipshow we have a large outdoor heated swimming pool. On warm Summer evenings my parents often invite us (that means you too!) to a barbecue. Bring your own drinks for a great party.

Walking and Cycling

There is plenty of room to store

a sports facility covering all the other sports you can think of!

Theatre and Cinema

The well known Brewery Arts Centre has a great new three screen cinema complex; shows a good variety of theatre productions and also has a very good restaurant and bar.

Eating Out

Kendal has a good selection of places to eat. The cuisines I can remember are Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Thai, French, pub meals, and a selection of take-away outlets, KFC, McDonalds, etc.

bikes at Mill Raise. We are surrounded by footpaths and ideal cycle routes; many of our horse rides would be appropriate. The Dales Way, Longsleddle and the famous Kentmere Horseshoe are all close-by.

Golf

There are three golf courses and two driving ranges within a couple of miles of Mill Raise.

Skiing

Kendal has a fantastic dry ski slope; you can hire all of the equipment and I believe there is also a mogul run for the adventurous!
